Meta has announced plans to use your conversations with its AI assistant to personalise ads that you see. Here’s everything you need to know about Meta’s latest update.
So what does it mean for you?
Ultimately, if you have an account on Facebook and use Meta AI as a tool to search about something you’re interested in, Meta will take that information to personalise the ads and posts you see.
That said, Meta says it won’t use AI conversations about religious views, political views, health, racial, or sexual orientation. You can also continue to adjust your ad preferences from your settings menu, but you can’t opt out of having your AI chats used for personalisation.

When will it come into effect?
The change goes into effect on 16th December. That means you’ll start seeing suggested posts, reels, and Facebook groups related to your AI chats. So if you ask Meta AI about long-distance running, Meta will show you recommendations for running groups, as well as posts about local trails.
